Hi to all
Elect for something warm, soft and fluffy but avoid blonde, rogue toupees at all cost!
I hope everyone is enjoying the run-up to the coming festivities, and no-one is too stressed about slippers and turkeys.
In fact, what better way to alleviate some of the pressures of choosing gifts by purchasing a ‘workshop’ for a friend or loved one this year – an ideal start to 2020. Make someone smile.
Comedy Matters have an amazing choice of new and exciting classes, as well as the more familiar workshops which have been running very successfully for the past few years.
2019 saw the ‘birthing’ of a brand new workshop aimed at just women. To Womb it May Concern has been hugely successful and now has a regular slot at the Exeter Phoenix throughout the whole of next year.
There are five classes over twelve months – all with unique themes that can be attended as progressive training, or stand alone. Links to these classes can be found at the bottom of this newsletter.

is going to be Funtabulous
So whats coming?
The esteemed FUNNY WOMEN - the UK's leading female comedy community are coming to the Westcountry for an exciting new venture. Maggie will be hosting on behalf of this amazing team - offering once a month 'TIME OF THE MONTH' workshops early 2020. Venue and further info to TBC (hopefully before Christmas)
There’ll be some cracking new beginner’s classes coming to various venues around Exeter and Exmouth, as well as a much asked for and brand new ‘Advanced’ stand-up class. Sundowners Exmouth will be hosting the first in the beginners series for 2020 - and we couldn't be more excited to be returning for another year! Links to further info and Eventbrite can be found below. The first series of workshops start on Weds January 15 and end on February 26. The second set of workshops will be from May 06 until June 17.
Comedy Matters are also offering a 'one size fits all' class - again a 7 week series from March 04 - April 15 that will integrate varying levels of comedy writing and performing for a fun and holistic class.
The brand, spanking new ADVANCED classes will be ideal for those who already have some experience but are looking to take a leap forward and really polish those comedy skills; classes will be intimate in order to maximise the teacher-client focus. This 7 week series of workshops will be hosted at the gorgeous Cafe 55 in Exeter (37 Northernhay St, Exeter EX4 3ER), which is near Central station, tucked away behind the Rougemont Hotel.
It begins on Monday 27 Jan and runs until 2 March, with the usual showcase, and a new 'reflective round-up' session that will give attendees the chance to apply a further edit on their work after comprehensive and constructive feedback. All info can be found in the link at the bottom of the page.
2020 will also see Comedy Matters Crossing borders into Cornwall at The Old Bakery Studios - Truro – a superb space on the Wharf. Maggie will be running a fantastic weekend workshop with a public performance on the Sunday evening. This is the first event that Comedy Matters are taking on tour - many more to follow in neighbouring counties, so watch this space.
As usual, Maggie would like to thank everyone for their continued support, and wishes you all the best for the festive season and New Year.
Links to all Comedy Matters events are below – we look forward to seeing some of you in 2020.
Cheers!
