- Turn everyday conversations with others (or yourself) into comedy gold.
- Build the confidence to stand up in front of total strangers and make them laugh.
- Bolster your public speaking skills. Learn to manipulate language and your voice to create comedy.
Stand up comedy writing and performing are inextricably linked to a person’s, or a comedy persona’s, point of view. Their ‘voice’ drives and shapes the material.
You will develop material through a number of approaches in a safe and supportive atmosphere where there is no pressure to be funny. Advice on making material funny or even funnier will be provided throughout the course.
You will tap into your stories - a chance to stretch the truth or say it as it is! Topical events will be explored and comedy techniques - will be woven in and repeated - as you build material for jokes and a routine.
The comedian ‘makes friends with an audience’ and achieving this on screen or face to face will be explored in the warmth and safety of your own performance space, which right now could be your dining room, office or boudoir!
An online graduation gig will take place on 16 June on the comfort of your own home. Feedback will be provided by Maggie. You will finish with material and bag of techniques to use in developing and editing more material and the confidence to do it again and again.
One-to-one classes also available for people who want personal support and tuition.
Let’s sit down and write stand up together.
