Topical Comedy Lock-ins
About this Event

Clown and comedy teacher Maggie will guide you through the process as you develop your own topical comedy, in conversation with others with similar goals and aims.
It's safe. It's fun. It's edgy. And who knows what is going to happen :)

A weekly look at topical events in your life and in the news, with the purpose of writing material - your points of view in response to what is happening.

HAVE A NOTEPAD AND PEN TO HAND!

MAKE SURE YOU CAN BE SEEN CLEARLY ON SCREEN.

We're offering stand up comedy workshop with a dollop of creative play via Zoom; it's easy to use - just book via Eventbrite to reserve your place, send Maggie an email at magsirving@gmail.com - and we'll send you a link to join the class.

We'd love to see as many of you as possible; spaces are limited. We invite; you click the online prompts - it's as simple as that! The Good Good Bad techniques of comedy can be an invaluable way to turn adversity and worry into something a little lighter; obviously we understand that life at the moment is not to be taken as a joke - and that is not the aim.

This is an opportunity to flip those adversities and transcend difficult situations. And a chance to get a tad satirical about the here and now.

Or if you have a speech - father of the bride, best man, Oscar acceptance etc and want help with writing.

Or if you want to bring more humour into your professional or personal life .
Or if writing and performing comedy is on your bucket list!'

Pi Society Singles - Get your VLIRT ON!

Online dating with a twist!

Wednesday 22 April 7.30 – 9pm £5.98: BOOK HERE

About this Event

Join us on Wednesday 22nd April for an evening of making comedy with like-minded individuals who enjoy a laugh, whilst developing skills and memorable social connections.

Usually done face to face, this innovative Virtual Dating will intrigue; this is a stand-up workshop with a difference: you’re sat down, isolated – but still connected – Get your VLIRT on!

Maggie Irving of Comedy Matters last Pi Society face-to-face comedy workshop was a great success, with Pi Society members connecting, having a laugh and really getting to know each other. And now with social distancing – not hugging, kissing etc – the session is moving on-line and you’re all invited – Get your VLIRT on!

Why this is for you?

• Bored at home?
• Want to see old or new friendly faces?
• Need to laugh
• Skirting boards cleaner than they’ve ever been?

What do you need?

• Zoom downloaded
• Notepad and pen
• An open mind (and a Heineken because it refreshes the parts..)

Rules for Get your VLIRT on

1. Don’t try to be funny – you will be given comedy tips to make it funny
2. Express your point of view – speak from the heart – make it sound truthful
3. Don’t judge yourself – ditch the social editor
4. Censorship and Respect – you might not find some material funny or like it. Support others’ commitments and efforts
5. Try to look into the eye of the camera as much as possible when speaking, not to the screen – especially on punch lines (don’t worry, it’s an easy discipline to learn).
