The April (Fool's) Road Map
Hilaria
(Latin for joyful) was celebrated by wearing disguises and creating mirth in ancient Rome at the end of March, and is one possible version of how April Fool's Day began...
Move forward to 2021 and we have perfect reason to revision the 'FOOL' creatively, in response to the world today.
'Romeo, Romeo, meet me, Romeo. Wherefore art thou post lockdown, Romeo? Yes, we can meet in the garden – we’re from two households! But woe betide you drink too much; wander inside for a wee; hug passionately, and/or end up in bed – unless that’s a flowerbed!'
With the promise of meeting people in gardens - and indeed flowerbeds - the joyful Hilaria that comes from sharing time with others can't come quickly enough.
It is April Fool's Day tomorrow and people are coming to my Dare To Clown workshop to bump up their comedy skills and confidence.
What a month! April 2021 starts with a Fool's Day bang and the UK road map is in full swing... and there are so many exciting opportunities to stay connected with my online courses/workshops!
And some of us may look a little trimmer soon, with the opening of salons. Bojo’s ferret has already gone - and not too soon… He needed a chop.
Comedy can be cutting edge. One student on my comedy course wrote to say how much her confidence had increased since the start of the course and that she now brought humour into her work meetings - with success. Phew! In another online class, the university course leader remarked how the class had enjoyed the session; how their confidence had improved and how it had helped combat loneliness. Brilliant.
Join us tomorrow (1 April 09.30-3.30pm) for one day of mirth making, confidence boosting, creative thinking and making new connections and friends.
If you can’t make it, then there is another comedy writing course on 20 April and an Online Feminist Clown Course from 28 April.
Any ideas for a fun April fools? Let me know!
