Making humour
“healthy” depends on how it is used in everyday life.
According to
research, one of the best types of humour is self-enhancing humour - associated
with lower levels of depression, anxiety and negative humour, and higher levels
of self-esteem and positive effect.
Self-enhancing humour refers to the tendency to be frequently amused by the incongruities of life, to maintain a humorous perspective even in the face of stress or adversity, and to use humour as an emotion-regulations mechanism.
For improved
mental health try looking at and laughing at the oddities of life. Or join a
class to find out how you can build a toolkit to do this.
